A Brief Blogging Pause….

June 3rd, 2012 | Blog | 13 Comments

Dear friends, writers and readers of my blog –

Maybe you’ve been wondering: Que Pasa?  Why haven’t you been posting lately?

I have an excuse.

I’m revising my novel.

It’s taking every waking minute I have and every conscious, unconscious and delirious thought.

Right now I have drafts all over the floor in purple paper, green paper, yellow paper, white paper, and the latest, my favorite, a bright gold paper.  I’m heading towards pink, the last pastel ream color left at Office Max.  I apologize to the trees, but I have to see the thing printed out.

For years it’s felt as if I’ve been rolling this giant boulder labeled “NOVEL” up a very steep hill, only to have it roll back over me time and again.

Sometimes I feel pretty good about the book.  Hey, not too bad!

Other times…not too good.

Most of the time I wonder if I will EVER be finished.  It’s been one long gestation.

But this is it.  The final draft.

I hope.

I really miss posting!  It makes me feel I’m communicating with you, whoever you are, wherever you are.   I have all kinds of things I want to talk to you about – and hear back from you, if you’re so inclined.

So see you in a few weeks.  I won’t be gone long.

Best,

Paulette

Linda, that's so sweet! I know you've been here — revising — with your own novels. Hope you've got a new one underway. Thanks for cheering me on! P

    GOOD LUCK!

    • pbalden says:

Oh John, that's so nice. I need all the luck I can get, so thanks for adding yours to the pot — hope you're having a fine summer. P

Such a delightful post. I had no idea you were writing a novel. And how marvelous to use colored paper rather than dull white. Dear Paulette, have a marvelous summer revising so that when you do your workshop on the "achievable" goal, you'll be up there tiptop, smiling bright. Happy writing!

I'm always writing a novel…or I should say revising a novel. Well, you too know how that is!

Yes, I hope to get to the mountain top — onward.

Good wishes for your own novel-in-progress, and have a great summer yourself. P

Paulette, you describe the process so perfectly! (I'm going through it myself right now, too). Good luck and hope we can be in touch when you come out the other side…

  7. pbalden says:

You know I'm pulling for you, Gary. Let's definitely catch up later in the summer. Good luck to you too — P

    Hi Paulette,

Got back from Europe last night and am just catching up. Sounds like you are in the blissful thick of it! Great place to be. I hope to share your state asap. Revise and godspeed . . .
